Cannabis Patients Take Surveys to Track Progress

In the 2025 New York Cannabis Consumer and Patient Research Study, adult cannabis users share their real-world experiences through a brief, anonymous survey. Participants help document how and why cannabis is chosen for medical, wellness, and adult-use purposes. By gathering this information, the study supports greater understanding of cannabis use patterns and patient preferences across New York.

Want To Participate In This Study?

The Cannabis Center of Excellence (CCOE) is conducting a research study to understand how and why New Yorkers choose to consume cannabis for medical, wellness, and recreational purposes.

Participants, who must be adult-use or medical cannabis consumers aged 21+ living in New York and RISE customers, will be asked to complete a short 5-minute online survey. The survey will explore topics including:

  • Why, how, and when participants choose to use cannabis
  • Where participants receive cannabis education or information
  • Perspectives on federal cannabis legalization

Participants’ anonymous responses will contribute to evidence-based cannabis research, support future education and policy work in New York, and be included in scientific publications.

The survey is completely anonymous, requires no identifying information, and results will be immediately available to participants after completing the survey.

Study Methods

The study uses a quantitative research method through a 5-minute anonymous online survey. Participants include adult-use and medical cannabis consumers in New York, aged 21 and older, who shop at RISE dispensaries. The survey asks about personal consumption habits, access to cannabis information, and opinions on federal legalization, offering valuable insights into the evolving landscape of cannabis use.
